GIZZI “The idea behind this is that the agave nectar is slow release carb and will be much lower in calories than the sugar, but its even more delicious than the horrid fanta she has been drinking”

Blackberry and Orange Cordial - 248kcals and 2.9g of fat per serving

  • 600g black berries
  • juice and zest 3 oranges
  • juice and zest 1 lemon
  • 100ml light Agave nectar
  • 150ml water
  • sparkling water to serve

Place all the ingredients into a saucepan, then gently bring to the boil. Allow it to boil for 15 minutes or until the blackberries have entirely broken up and it has gone syrupy. You can help I along the way by using a potato masher to break them up.

Pour through a fine sieve and using the back of a wooden spoon encourage the pulp out. Transfer into an old (sterilized) glass bottle or long plastic Tupperware container.

Use about 1cm of cordial with sparkling water and ice for a deelish refreshing drink!
